Yj fuel tank question...

First off, I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4.0 fuel injected. My tank has a hole in it, so I purchased on off Craigslist. Everything appeared the same size. When I went to install the sending unit, it would not fit. I finally took out a tape measure. My tank is 11" tall, and the one I purchased was 10 1/4" tall. Did jeep change the YJ tank heights during certain years? Is there anyway I can repair it myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
