Debate on Used or New Jeep...

Hey guys!

Just joined the forum.

Currently on a huge bebate with myself... Go for a new 2014 Sahara 2-door or used 2012 Sahara Unlimited.

Anyone care to bedate with me? Term "used" kinda scares me, but the dealer insists it was well taken care of. Then again, he wants a sale.

TIA, for your thoughts.

I noticed that deals can be had on Unlimited's that brings them right inline with the 2 drs, price wise. If I were you, I'd find a 2013, cus you get the 3250 rebate, as well as a 3k to 4K additional discounts. ( the dealers really want to clear them out this time of year) Also, buy one bare bones if you can. You can find everything you want to add to your jeep on Kijiji, for a whole lot less than new. ( case in point, I've got my brand new 2013 soft top for sale now) I've seen wheels, suspension upgrades, factory running boards etc on sale...cheap! It's also a riot going on a road trip to pick up new toys for the jeep. The 2012s had cylinder head issues, you may want to stay away from, and the 2013 seats are way more comfy. It's surprising almost every 2013 colour is out there still, but they are dwindling. We hunted all over Ontario and found our brand new Gecko unlimited at a dealer 6 hrs away. It was a dealer trade, but the sale fell through. It wasn't posted on their inventory on Chryslers website, which is why it was still there. Send an email to Chrysler with the colour, body ( 2dr or 4dr), and tranny option you want. That's what I did and they sent me a list of 3 or 4 dealers who had one.

Early 2012s had cylinder head issues; check the buld date, there is a thread that explains how to do this. Personally, I prefer the 2dr. Help boost 2dr sales statistics! Too many mall crawlers buying the 4dr mini van they call an unlimited lol

With the rebates on the 2013's plus my haggling skills I was able to get a new 13 for less than many used 12's and 13's out there.

Gecko4 makes many good points, I just got back from the 4WD store in Cleveland with a nice selection of new parts.

I would buy New and looking to do so right now.
I agree with buying a base model with next to no options especially here in Canada due to price difference from U.S. No way I am going to spend over 50K when I can get a Raptor for the same price.
I asked a salesman why Wranglers can reach prices of over 50K and he said its the fault of the survivalist nut jobs out there that are buying them for the oncoming end of the world.

They can reach over 50K because people are willing to buy them at that price. That salesman sounds like a moron.
