Eastern Ontario Trailblazers club meets at the Cock And Bull pub in Bells Corners here in town every second monday of each month if you want to meet up with local jeepers. Anyone's welcome to come by to meet the club members and check out the rigs. I keep meaning to drop by but something always seems to come up :-\

Greetings from Belleville

Awwww, finally got around to registering to this forum.
For all of you TO people getting your brand new rigs, I applaud you.
However, there are still many of us who simply own a Jeep, BECAUSE its a Jeep.
1997 Wrangler, 310K, and still ticking like a clock :-)

Welcome!

Just because you get a new rig doesn't mean much. I would rather a new vehicle made exactly how I want it. My jeep is everything I need it to be and it doesn't mind the snow.

Hey everyone! I too, am a new JK owner...I reside in North Bay but commute to Oshawa and Toronto areas to visit family and friends! Had a car when I moved here but it just wasn't cutting it - and I ALWAYS wanted a jeep so it was time! should've done it sooner!!! So far I have only seen two here - but I live down by the lake and don't tour into town as much -only when going to work!

I went back to Newfoundland and I'm driving the Honda ridge line out here. I miss my jeep.

Does anyone know if you need doors on a jeep to drive on the highways? In Ontario. I have a mirror relocating kit! I was also looking at half doors tube steel ones.

You shouldn't have any problems as long as you have mirrors, I have seen tons of Jeeps with the doors off in the summer, I even do it but I do own a set of tube doors just incase!

You do not need any doors or side mirrors on a wrangler.
The law calls for one rear facing unobstructed mirror. That mirror can be your windshield mirror as long as it is not blocked.

From Ottawa here. Kanata to be specific.

I don't know too many other Jeepers around me since most of my friends are "import tuners", which is ironic because I'm the Japanese one haha. Always loved Jeeps and trucks.

Hope to meet some of you sometime!

Transmission Types

Good Morning, all,
Glad to see so much interest from the Ontario crowd.
A general question to everyone.
I am looking to upgrade this year, but have not had a chance to really drive one of the "new" 6 speed transmissions. Do they really make a difference on a day to day basis, or out on the trail ??
Cheers

I have the new rubi with the six gears. It makes a big difference on the highway. The first couple gears are still real torquey. That's just my opinion. I drove a 95 two door for work, for three months, two years ago.

Do any of you know if I can get a Jeep safetied in Ontario without doors or a top? I see an ad for a what looks like a farm property CJ-5 which would be a nice project to get back on the road but not if I have to go through the trouble of sourcing a top and doors

I know with current Jeeps the doors and top are not considered 'safety equipment' so I would think you could still safety a CJ without them. Have you tried calling a local shop to find out?

I just called the Canadian Tire in Perth, thinking they'd be more familiar with this type of vehicle and clientelle. All they could tell me was a generic answer "if it had them originally, then yes" I think I need to call around some more but damn do I ever hate getting on the phone =/

Hoping to join members on some trail rides this summer. Cheers.
