2004 LJ Rubicon

I have always refered to this forum for advice and finally desided I should join. Here is a little about my 04 unlimited it is a awesome jeep, have had it for about two years and have done lots to it. It was bone stock when I got it it had 56,000 miles and was always parked in a parking deck. It now has a 4" fabtec lift and shocks and 2" spacers in the front to help level it out, JKS swaybar disconnect front and JKS adjustable trackbar front and rear, and 33" BFG KM2s wrapped around American Racing ATX Teflon Coated wheels. Factory axles and gears 4.10s, but soon going to 4.88s so i can run 37" tires no problem. Under the hood it has a K&N filter and AirRaid throttle body spacer and ecm has been flashed and remapped so it runs on 93 gas and has about 290 hp it is a automatic but i have aftermarket cooler and fan mounted up under skide plate so over heating isnt a problem (anymore). This coming Friday it is getting a new steering box (dodge durango) got it for a hell of a deal cause I work a AutoZone...

Wow, the 2004 LJ Rubicon!?! Are you sure about that? I'd buy everyone I found if I could find one that is. Sorry just had to have a little fun. You might want to contact whoever sold you this. It really is a nice rig though regardless.

A water scoop and paperweight in the air stream BEFORE the point of fuel injection do not add 105hp. Not even if you use every sticker in the box.

Those upgrades do make that much HP if u already have a shorty header and totally new exhaust and a flowmaster 40 dumped right after the skid plate.... And computer is mapped with new shift points and timing curve corrected....

I looked the build date on the door sticker says 11 of 2004 so I guess it is a 2005 but my title says 2004 wrangler rubicon????

You might want to dyno that puppy before making any more hp/tq claims. Either way it looks like a fine Jeep. Welcome

The 4.7L stroker doesn't put that much power down. Flashing the computer isn't going to affect mechanical non-variable timing one iota, shift points do not affect power, and the 4.0 doesn't generate enough compression to utilize 93 octane gas in the first place.

With a build date of 11 of 2004, it likely would be a 2005, but your title reporting 2004 has me stumped. They started building the LJ's in 2004, the Rubicon version did not come until 2005. They only made them for two years, 2005-2006. I'm 99.9% sure on this, but anything is possible. Call a Jeep dealer parts department with your VIN, ask them what you have for sure. As for the axles and locker switch, my buddy has a 2002 TJ with those as well. He bought used Rubicon gear and built his own. But as you said, your build date and title date seem off from each other. Good luck, I am very curious to see what you find out.

I called the dealer a few months back to get a new transmission pan, because I was welding temp sensor in old one and wanted a spare in case I just trashed the old one... They say that it is a 04 wrangler rubicon but it was special ordered that is the reason for the late build date it is suppost to be a 05 but the guy I got it from ordered it in Oct got it in Dec... If that makes any sense to you, you are doing better than me.... He was a sells rep for Chrysler....????

Is it a 6spd or automatic? I'm assuming auto if you were monitoring the temp so closely. I ask because in 2004, they only offered automatic transmissions, no 5spd like the 2004 TJ had. Then both the TJ and LJ had the choice of automatics or 6spd transmissions in 2005 and 2006.

I would think all units built in November would be given the year model for the following year. But you say your title is listed as a 2004. I am still leaning towards an error in paperwork and it was mislabeled as a 2004. That or you have a Rubi-clone but I doubt that's the issue. I would still have a dealer run the VIN and print out all of the encoded information.

Well called the guy I got it from because he now has a 2008 JKR Unlimited and we are both in the same jeep club and ur right it is a Rubi-clone it started life as a Sport model, but it was all done at the South Point Dodge/Jeep dealer here in Austin because the guy I bought it from works for Chrysler as a sells rep... It has the NV241 t-case and D44 axles and all the wiring and relays for the lockers in the factory fuse box under the hood ect... So I that is good enough for me... It is my 2004 Rubicon Unlimited
