2012 Arctic Edition newbie checkn' in

Just a quick post to say hello!!

Just picked up a 2012 unlimited white Arctic Edition. I was going back and forth between that and a Rubi since the price is similar. I've wanted a Rubi for a long time but now with wife and two kids I have to be realistic about how much offroading I will be doing (plus no dealer near by had a Rubi loaded the way I wated it). I figured the Arctic my local dealer had was perfect, it looks insane in white and the package adds "some" upgraded bits. Between the painted wheels, painted top, BFGs, and side steps I was happy. This one happened to have a limited slip diff as well. I commute 102 miles a day so the biggest plus for me was some of the modern features (I know some of you frown against), its got navi, bluetooth, auto aircon, heated seats and mirrors, etc, etc. I feel I lucked out because the one I got is loaded but its still a stick!! The only other one I found near me was the really cool (but maybe become old) Winter Chill color in a auto.

So at the end of the day if things change in my life and I want a little more capability I can always add lockers and sway bar disconnects. Around me where I used to go wheeln’ I don’t need an extra low transfer case or the 44 upfront anyway. Believe it or not my biggest concern offroading right now would be messing up the white flares I’m wondering how easy it is to remove them and replace with aftermarkets just when I’m going off-road??

Last time I was in the scene I was rockn' a 1994 Toyota x-tra cab and a 1984 4-runner w/ 9 inch lift and 35"s. I used to have a blast and I'm glad to back ....... and finally have a Jeep!!

I'm shocked...fully loaded AND a stick. That's pretty rare.

As for the painted fenders, you'll either have to live with em all the time, or replace em with aftermarket flares. Nothing on the market that'll let you swap the two back and forth.

Although people have fabbed stranger things, I'm sure.

Welcome to WF!

Did you get the tow package installed with it? I saw a video on the arctic edition recently. They look awsome! The foot print decals on the hood and fender are so unique and awsome! Have fun with your new toy!

No I didn't but I plan on buying it. I am getting rid of my work horse Honda Oddy. She has 195K miles on her and running strong as can be. Anyway, it may seem funny but that Odyssey is my hauling buddy!! It carries everything and then some. With the van gone I am gonna have to pick up a small trailer so I can carry stuff from home depot, etc with the Jeep.

Thats probebly a good idea. Jeeps werent really built to haul much, but they work excellent for towing small trailers or pop-up campers. It will work perfectly for what you need it for! Keep Jeepin.....

Congrats on the new Jeep. I just got one in bright silver. I love driving mine; the looks that I get and the irony that I'm driving a vehicle that was inspired by the harsh, cold climate of the Arctic, here in AZ.
I can't believe that no one has commented on the airplane, though. Is that a 172?
