I am a first time jeep owner and not familiar with what the correct operation of the cooling fan should be. I have a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited. Recently my cooling fan has been coming on a lot when driving around town and in stop and go traffic. The Jeep is not overheating (temp gauge is in the middle). I went to my local dealer; they found nothing indicated on the computer that was malfunctioning. The fan seems to be coming on at the correct temperature and cools the engine down. My question is, should it be coming on that often? Is the cooling system designed to operate that way? It also seems to make no difference whether the AC is on or not. At about 85 degrees, it takes about 2 to 3 miles of driving around town to activate the fan. Driving on the freeway, I never seem to notice it. My biggest worry is when I attempt some four wheeling in the local high desert here in Southern California.
Has anyone else experienced this? Please enlighten me. I may be worrying to much about all this.
I would appreciate anyone’s input.
