Smile A Noobie here :)

Hi all!! I just purchased a 2000 Jeep Wrangler sport and I love it! I'm a first time jeep owner and was iffy bout it all, but one test drive and i was hooked!! I was wondering if you guys knew any good sites for replacement soft tops and/or custom ones? and also for lift kits and tires? I'm all about customizing her, but not over doing it, i figured i ask the jeep experts here here is a pic of my new baby!:

Welcome to the Jeep family! As for shopping...

quadratec.com
northridge4x4.com
4WD.com
4wheelparts.com
redrock4x4.com

Quadratec has the largest selection of Soft Tops I believe... but others may chime in.

Pic isn't working

very nice looking Jeep, there, Doc. The internet is your friend, for searching for lifts, just take your time, and get what you want, the first time. Nothing worse than spending money that you didn't have too. Or spending money twice, to get the final results you wanted. Glad you found us, and hope to be more helpful, in the future. Be sure to post some pics, of your progress.............we like pics.......

thanx all for the welcome and the helpful pointers! i will definitely keep u all updated on pics of the progress. a couple of quick questions: where would be a good deal for the 2"bb (bb?), the mild lift is the ballpark i want to be in for right now, and as far as extra exterior lights, i heard PIAAs r good but pricey. r there any other fun things to add and/or modify to give my jeep a nice customized look to it? heres another pic of my first time off-roading lol!!:

I currently have 2 KC Daylighters mounted to the windshield... think I spent a little over $130 for the lights and mounts after some price hunting.

Welcome to the forum neighbor!!! 4wheelparts has great prices on Bestop replacement tops. I just bought mine from them a few weeks ago. You have a great looking rig to build on. Can't wait to see what you do with her - make sure to post pics along the way.

welcome

First welcome to the board. You're going to find a wealth of info here.

I will agree with AzTJ on the KC Hilites. They are nice and you can find a deal.

My TJ is a year old now and gets a few treats. I just received my 2" bb and 1" bl yesterday. Unfortunatly i will not get a chance to wrench until the weekend after Mother's Day.

As info I bought my budget boost and lift from Rocky Road Outfitters in Utah. The price fit my budget.

Hey welcome
It looks just like mine

The first step i'd recomend is going to www.quadratec.com and signing up for a free magazine just to give you some ideas.. and keep in mind their stuff is overpriced.

what are you plans as tires go? If you wanna go 35s or + then 3" with some bodylift will make it... if you wanna stay only 33s or smaller than 2bb is cheaper and will do the job and if you have rubbing then you can add some bodylift. How much are you willing to spend and what are your future plans on wheeling?

2"bb 1"bl future pics

Not a problem there Sahara. I hope to start next Friday night at the earliest. This week being Mother's day I better leave the "mistress" alone.

I saw Triple88a asked what your plans for tires and wheels are. It's a good question because how and where you want to drive is a factor.

My ride is a daily driver. My offroad adventures will be mostly pasture land, rice fields and woods. Maybe some canyon runs eventually but nothing extreme.

Personally I'm looking to get into some 15x8 steelies and 31x10.5 mud terrains. Possibly I might go up to 32's but since I tow a utility trailer sometimes Iwant to think out all my potential power and gearing.

I also have the 3.73 gears so could do 32's fine with little power lose.I could run 33's with these gears to and it would be okay.

I'm 3.73 also on stock D30 and D35 axles

This for my daily use will be OK if I do go 32's. I am thinking more along the lines of rolling a bigger tire and towing when I mention the thoughts on gearing. I'm not a heavy footed guy in town or out.

I have been leaning towards the 32's though.

Ya the dana 35 is fine with 32's and with 3.73 gears there will be very little power lose. How heavy is the trailer you tow.

Well under the 2000 lbs tow rate.

I forgot to add that I have to factor in Houston city limit driving. You do not want to be underpowered anywhere in this place.

I agree that 32's with a total of 3 inches of lift will make for a good looking ride.

a bb (Budget Boost) is spacers that you put above? your springs, along with longer shocks, to give you lift for bigger tires.

a bl (Body Lift) is either spacers that you put between the body mount and the jeep, or a new mount all together that is taller. It too gives you more lift for bigger tires, and also more clearance between the body for some upgrades (Tummy Tuck etc.).

I think your TJ is either 29" or 30" tires. 30-31" are the tallest you can go, 31s will require some adjustment of the steering stops.

Before you just get "mild" mods, figure out what you want to do with the jeep. Lots of people throw thousands of bucks into their jeep, only to take it all off and spend thousands more for 2 more tire sizes cause they didnt do it right the first time.

With that said, a BB or BL can be kept later on despite what you end up doing with the jeep, and can also be sold very quickly if you wanted
