About to buy my first Jeep Wrangler!

5 months ago I rode in a Jeep for the first time and absolutely fell in love. Yesterday my husband and I stopped by the dealership to look at one for me. Dealer let us take home a 2 door sport soft top and we rode around all day with the top down. Being able to spend an extended period of time in the Jeep made me see that some things I thought wouldn't bother me do (manual windows - lever knob is right in your leg - gotta be power windows for this girl) and notice issues I wouldn't have realized otherwise (no automatic dome lights?). Now I know I want a two door, power locks and windows, satellite radio and either 17 or 18 inch tires. We go tomorrow to BUY!!!!!! so any advice on other things I might want to make sure I get or what would be better/cheaper to do later. (Kind of like don't pay the builder of your home to change out light fixtures cause they jack up the price.) I do want to offroad, but I will be driving it around town more than I would offroad.

Ya won't need anything from the dealer than the jeep with the items you listed.

Next would to be find a local jeep club or group and go on some mild, beginner type runs and build up to your comfort level from there. You will be amazed at what a stock jeep can do.

Once you have wheeled off road for a bit, got to know some trails and people, then you can decide how best to mod your jeep that will fit your off roading desires. Not everyone wants to rock climb or swamp dive, some just want to cruise unpaved roads for the scenery.

This will also enable you to speak with other JK owners who have mod'ed their jeeps. Find out why they mod'ed it the way they did with the equipment they used and if they could, would they do anything different. We spent almost 9 months performing research in this manner and using the web before embarking on modifications to our rig.

Welcome to the world of Jeeping it is a blast filled with some awesome people.

OBTW, its an addiction and the only cure is to get out there and wheel it.
