Another New Yorker

Hey everybody, I just picked up my first Jeep ever after wanting one since I was a little kid. I got a 2004 Wrangler X, 5 speed with 12k on it. Black with a hardtop. Just wanted to say hi and see if anyone here has any heads-ups on this particular year and model such as common noises, quick fixes for any quirks and so on.

I already noticed that I have a small fluid leak near the oil pan and tranny. Seems to have the consistancy of chain lubricant, very watery but black. Not sure where it is coming from yet. I guess that is what a warranty is for. Anyway, I hope to learn a bunch from you all.

-Josh

Welcome Josh, not sure what the leak is pehaps some run off oil form the last oil change? But with 12k have the dealer check it out.

Welcome aboard boss.

You got yourself a good year with your 04. 2003 they made a lot of changes that simplified a lot of things on the Wrangler. Only think you watch out for is buying parts. Make sure you always find or ask for the parts for 2003 or newer.
