Hello, new Jeep owner here (Florida/ East Coast). I've been looking at Wranglers for years, but finally took the plunge and bought one yesterday!
For a little back-story:
Since my wife and I are expecting our second child at the end of the year, we decided that it's time for me to FINALLY get a vehicle with a back seat (until now, I was driving a full-sized Chevy truck & before that only had 2-seater sports cars). Ever since selling my old Honda, I've also been on the lookout for another convertible. With those things in mind, we went shopping over the weekend for a low-mileage Wrangler Unlimited, drove a couple, looked at a few more, & ended up coming home with this:
*sorry for the lousy pics from the dealer website.
It's a 2010 4X4 'Sport' with only 3500 miles! Might as well be brand new But, since it's used, we saved over $5k! w00t! It was a little more than I had planned to spend, but this one has all of the 'convenience' features that my wife likes (power locks/ windows, cruise, etc, etc, etc) and SUPER low miles.
Now, I've just got to pick up some side steps/ nerf bars so that she can climb in and out more easily, a K&N filter, and I'm also considering a hard top for it so that it'll be a little more civilized (and secure) on road trips. Other than that, it's ready to rock and roll!
Can't wait to hit some trails! Can anyone recommend a good system for carrying kayaks?
License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.
I think the green does her good Derf, and maybe in time you can convince the wife to let you paint it purple or something.
I'm from the south originally, so "Y'all" is pretty instilled in me. The eight or so years I spent in Colorado I continued using it, even though people looked at me like I was crazy.
Lol... but purple is her favorite color
Honestly, I like the green as well... it almost looks black in low light. The only problem with a dark car around here is the heat. I guess that'll just give me another excuse to ride around topless, though
As for the Y'all thing, I had very similar experiences in Texas (lived in Austin for about 5 years). I even had a guy ask me, "You aren't from Texas, are you?" once. He claimed that I was talking way too fast to be a Texan.
