Brand new owner looking for advice...

Alright, just picked me up a brand new 2012 Wrangler 4x4 Unlimited Sport (automatic, I know there were no standards available)

New to the Jeep, always wanted one.

Used for everyday travel.

Mechanic in the Army so have vehicle knowledge.

Whats the first thing I look into tinkering with?

Welcome aboard. You should look at tinkering with whatever you want to tinker with. When it comes to the 2012s, most people fix their headlights and then start bolting on parts to go further.
