Car Dealerships ??

Like my 2004 Sport, but has 160,000 mi , no cruise control , alignment problem that can't seem to be fixed. Saw a 2008 X at a dealership in Cary, NC, just dropped in to check it out. Salesman seemed okay, offered a test drive. Liked it alot, drove really well, good clutch, good response. clean interior / exterior. Well then came the sales BS, they wanted $18,998 for their X w/64,000 mi. but after the lame salesman / manager routine, they offered me a $4,000 trade-in. They showed me the KBB for $4600 good condition. Other than the milage, my 2004 runs good / interior - exterior looks clean. If you look at any of the sites , you hardly see a Wrangler under $10,000. I bet if I did the deal, I could come back a week later and see my Wrangler on the lot for $9,900. Am I right or wrong ?

Yep, you are probably right. Personal sales are usually lower than businesses. Hey, they have to make a buck to play the sales people, rent, utilities, etc.... Not defending them, just saying. Check out Autotrader and Craigslist.

Welcome to the forum!

I've never met an honest salesman, that's why people test drive. I wouldn't let my 05 TJ go for $4k, and with yours being higher mileage it's still worth at least $8k or so. That engine still has more than 100k miles left before it'll need serious work. Adding a cruise control isn't that bad, and just take it to a shop for the alignment (and keep taking it back until they get it right). If you want to get the JK, I'll buy your TJ from you for $4001 any day.

Thanks!! for the good advice...have had my '04 for 2 years. It's never let me down, NC to Fl and back several times.. who knows what might happen after I pull that '08 off the lot??? If it's not broke, stick with it.
