chatter noise

My jeep has a chatter when i am going down the road, much like the sound of a rock inside the center cap of a wheel. mine does not have center caps, i have checked every wheel, jacked it up, put it in gear and no sound, only makes it going down the road. sound does not change in 4wd or 2wd.
