Checking in and have a couple questions

Hi I just bought a 97 tj with a 2.5l and wanted to get a little more jam from it was wondering about some good upgrades or should I just get started by putting a 4.0 in it I have 2 and a 4.0 ho as well like the light 2.5 but just don't have the jam I would like to turn the 31x10.5 tires thanks for any input
