Checking in from Minneapolis

Hello! I've wanted a Jeep since I was 14 and I've finally scored one in my mid 40's. 2009 Black Rubicon. Picked up "Mud Hunter" in July and can't get enough of him. I've been able to take one off road trip since purchase which was on the Trans Wisconsin Trail. It will be many years before I become a true off roader. I've got a lot to learn and besides that if I stick too much money into mods right away I'm gonna be sleeping in the Jeep.....

I'm looking forward to learning and spending many years modifying "Mud Hunter". And my master plan is to get my better half to be totally hooked and owning her own Jeep some day.

We're a family of six and all of us are avid dirt fans. All members of the family have their own dirt bikes from my four year old to my 15 year old. We start 'em young and it was the four year old that aptly named my Jeep "Mud Hunter". His favorite phrase? "Let's go huntin' for mud, dad!"

Hello everyone. I wanted to update this first post of mine. I do not post much as I feel I am still learning and just listen to those that have experience here on the forum. But alas, it is time to update things a bit as I am getting much closer to being the Jeep enthusiast my heart yearns for! I have done as I stated when I first posted and I have slowly modified my beloved Mud Hunter and will continue to do so till I die. I love my Jeep!

She now has 95,000 miles on her and the modifications have been a little bit each year. Aside from little trinkets such as the Rugged Ridge Hood Latches the first real change was the AEV Savegre Wheels.

Soon after that I put in a 2" budget lift with Bilsteins.

My oldest boy has been the closest to Mudhunter (other than myself). He has been proud to drive it all through high school. This image is David coming home from his first stint with the USMC. He entered the delay entry program and had just come home from his first "Mini Bootcamp" training.

Mud Hunter will miss him as will I though my pocket book will not as he has worn many tires loving my Jeep...

Here he is this year...I believe his DI is saying something about wearing out my tires....

Dave and I installed the Rugged Ridge HD Aluminum bumper with Mini Stinger and Rugged Ridge winch with synthetic rope this past winter. We also were supposed to put the skid plate on but held off as I was going to do some front end work that I'm just now finally getting around to. New passenger side drag link, Old Man Emu HD steering stabilizer and relocation, etc. Trying to get it all done before he ships off in a few weeks...

We also installed the Sprint Top recently. I had broken the rear window on my soft top and it was a good excuse to give Mud Hunter a new look. I have the original soft top if anyone needs it let me know. Just needs a new rear window zipper.

M.H. has been on plenty of camping trips and cruising the Boundary Waters Canoe area and he's been a great friend to my dogs as well!

I'd forgotten how shiny he used to be...

Dave ships off soon and is saying goodbye to his friend and dreaming about how he is going to out do Mud Hunter with his own Jeep soon...

God bless those that serve our country in the Military. I'm very proud of my son!

Mud Hunter has three more children to get through high school. He has a long haul ahead of him. I can feel the money draining from my wallet as I type! Just Empty Every Pocket...no joke but what a way to go! I am about to put the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R w/Kevlar LT315/70R17/D 121Q very soon. If any of you have an opinion (of course you do..) regarding these tires please give me your positives/negatives on them.

Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!
