Factory side steps install 2012 wrangler 2door

Has anyone installed these. The instructions show a hook nut that looks like it is supposed to fit in the frame through a square cutout. The wrangler doesn't have any square cutouts like in the diagram, but the frame looks like it will accept the bolts. Did jeep change this on the 2012 model. Please let me know if anyone can help

Welcome Aboard! The square cutouts have a piece of square tape covering the threads. Pull the tape off and you will see where to put the bolts.

Now I have to replace the bumper tomorrow. Daughter's Wrangler. Any tricks on the bottom "splash guard" bolts that look like the should unscrew with a Phillips but don't? I am assuming that I will have to drill those out to get that to detach from the bumper cover. Looks pretty easy from there. Just have to transfer the fog lights to the new bumper. Once again thanks for the help
