After 47 years of driving I have finally bought an American car.
I am now the owner of a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara.
I went from a Mitsu Montero that I drove for 12 years and was falling apart to a Volvo C30. Nice fast little car. Lasted 2 1/2 years.
Discovered a couple of things this summer.
Not nearly enough room to carry camping gear for 3 people.
Noticed that all those sort of roads that I thought nothing of taking the Montero on were simply not there for the Volvo.
Looked at what it was going to cost to keep the Volvo up after the warranty ran out.
Started looking at cars. For some reason I stumbled across this:
Jeep Exterior | Ursa Minor Vehicles
And thought that's cool, and what the thing under it.
Started doing some research, and found that just about anyone who owned the Wrangler loved it. The car mags, as much as they didn't want to thought it was a great all around car.
Started looking at what you could do with even a long wheelbase Wrangler.
Went into my local dealer to see how it fit (I'm 6'4" and the last jeep I tried did not fit at all) drove a used 2013 with 10k miles on it.
Next day it's sitting in my garage in place of the Volvo.
Not sure where we will end up, but it sure is a nice rig.
