First Jeep

I just bought a 1997 TJ. Got it for $5500, think I got a good deal on it. Couple issues.

1. Speedometer/odometer aren't working so I'm not sure how many miles.
2. Fuel gauge is intermitent.
3. Death Wobble.
4. Believe transfer case internals are shredded. 4x4 doesn't work, makes a lot of grinding and clunking.

It came with a lot of extras too. It has 35" tires and a 6" Rough Country lift. The first thing I'm looking forward to fixing is the death wobble. I will be bringing it in to see if it needs an alignment when I get a chance.

Anyways glad to be hear!

Got my death wobble issue fixed for now. I had to tighten up pretty much everything on the front end. I'm definitely going to need to purchase a bushing kit and replace all the bushings though. I think the next thing I'm going to try to fix is the speedometer/odometer issue.

When I got my 98 about a year ago, it sounded almost identical to yours, with problems and all. Now it's almost completely fixed. PO said I needed a new tcase, but I hooked up the front driveshaft a couple of days ago, and it actually engaged! Now I just have to overhaul the front driveshaft...good luck with your new project!
"Why do you drive something like that?" ...To which I reply: "To make people like you ask questions like that."
