First Jeep (JK)

Well, just got my first! I live in Chicago, served the Marines for 4 years, and I know work as a radiographer. Was a Biker (Harley) for a couple years, and now looking for something new, so I bought myself an 07 JK. Its my first, so I have a lot of questions about beefing it up! This is my first time joining a forum, so I'm also a bit lost here. Well, if anybody can help with one of my first question, I would appreciate it. I'm shopping around for a 3 inch suspension lift. I've seen Black Diamond, teraflex, ect. Don't know what to go with...whats going to give me good quality for a good price??? And does anybody know a ballpark figure to get the lift on??? Heck, I was considering doing it myself with some help too. Well, any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for your service. Congrats on the new Jeep First, wave, to every Jeep you see... it's tradition Second, wheel it stock a few times and find out what you need as far as mods go. Third, prepare to Just Empty Every Pocket.... Modding is addictive, and Jeeps have a million and one options for modding.
The beauty of JK's is that you don't have to lift them much to put on bigger tires. 2.5" is plenty to run 35's.. We just installed a Teraflex 2.5" budget boost on our '07. There is a forum member discount on Teraflex products through Northridge4x4 Jeep Parts Online Store I think you have to call and ask for Jeffrey to get the discount. If you know some mechanically inclined people and have the right tools, installing a lift is not that difficult, it will take some time tho'.
Spend a couple of days reading the topics on the forum and you'll learn a ton, and have a few laughs and make some friends along the way. This is a great forum, full of very nice people and some very knowledgeable Jeepers.....

Welcome to the forums, and thank you for your service.

How you'll be using the Jeep will also influence your mod decisions. If it will be an urban dwelling daily driver, you may want to stay on the smaller side of lift/tire decisions.

And no matter what direction you take, someone else in here has probably chosen that path for one reason or another and can give you some insight about it.
