Decided to change my plugs before emission test time...I bought an 02 TJ 4.0 a few weeks ago.
The plug came out so easily...I thought...only the insulator and hex came out...the plug was so corroded the thread and electrode remained in the head.
I soaked all 6 plugs for a week with pb blaster.
Inserted a small piece of shop towel with grease into the hole. Installed a Snap On easy out.
Created a 3/8 drive female to female using a 3/8 allen key and 3/8 socket.
The female 3/8 fits perfectly over the easy out.
Next, my 3/8 impact was used to hammer away for 5 minutes on the broken blug. Finally a ratchet using the same drive was used and out came the offending plug...Head threads still look great...Lucky...
Now, I have put the coil rail back on, with a new plug gapped and installed.
The engine starts, runs for 2-3 seconds, bucks, and dies.
Right before that happens, my dash dummy lights flicker .
I am taking the rail off to check for problems. The jeep ran well before I went to pull the plugs.
Any ideas guys?
