First time jeeper in alaska

Hello everyone. I just picked up my first jeep yesterday from a friend of mine. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm not sure of everything that has been done to it already but I'll get into the shop soon and look it all over. It's got a small lift, arb front bumper and differential air lockers that I know of. I've only got a couple pictures of it so far that I will try to load. Also, my name is Don and like the title says I'm in Alaska. Looking forward to meeting you guys and doing some work on my new jeep. Thanks.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Ash will definitely have some fun in the jeep with me. I think I'll be able to get into the shop for a little bit tomorrow. If so I'll let you know how it goes.

I was able to get into the shop today but only for about an hour. All I was able to do today was an oil change, rear differential service, pull the check engine codes and look at my oil pressure sensor that only works intermittently. I switched over to a synthetic oil for the engine. While I had the rear differential cover off I flushed out the whole thing with some cheap 80w-90 weight I had. Than I filled it with 75w-140 synthetic mopar brand oil. The differential is leaking from the pinion seal a bit and from around the seal in the cover. That cover shouldn't leak any more though but I'll be keeping an eye on it anyways. My check engine codes are for a short to power in my rear O2 sensor and an ambient battery temperature to high? That is a new one on me. I also looked at the oil pressure sensor connector and cleaned it up real good and it seems to be working for now.

If anyone is wondering I work for a Honda, Toyota and GM dealer. So I have access to my shop on the weekend. I've been working there just over two years and graduated Wyotech in Sacramento, Ca. My dealership actually consists of two different building right next to each other. The other being a dodge, Chrysler, Subaru dealer. My brother works there so I get access to all their special tools. Also all the oil and filters I use are Mopar and I get most everything free so that helps a good deal. I will try to load some pictures in the next post.

Had a minute so I removed the grills on the speakers and found they were pretty old and beat up. I've got a large amount of audio stuff around because I used to be really into that when I was in high school. I had some new Alpine speakers still in their box I've never used so I put those in real quick and now the audio sounds much better.

New

Front are some Orion's and they look to be in good shape and sound clear so I don't see any reason to replace them.

It's a beautiful place. I'm in Juneau. Love the town, grown up here but it can get very boring. There are no roads out of here so you have to catch a boat or plane to get anywhere.

Very cool. I've never done the whale adventures but I've heard they are pretty fun. I have done dog sledding though, that is a very fun experience. You will have a blast.

Got into the shop again this weekend and was able to service the transmission, transfer case and front differential. Boy that skid plate for the transmission and Tcase is super heavy, thank god for high jacks. I flushed all of them out real good with new fluid before filling them up. Really smoothed out my transmission too. Very happy with it. The fluid that came out of the Transfer case looked like a mocha though. (see pictures)

Three weeks in a row, got into the shop again. Got the wheels off today and inspected the brakes. Also flushes the brake fluid system a ton, made sure it get all the old stuff out. Also adjusted the parking brake and greased all the Zerks. The jeep is running pretty dang smooth now but I think the water pump is on its way out.

Got some new fog lamps this weekend. Nothing super nice, just some cheap KC lamps. I like them because at a glance they looks like they could be factory jeep lamps and I've had problems with theft. I pulled the stock wiring diagram and was able to find the factory harness and wire up to that, so that was nice. Very happy with the amount of light they put out and the bumper already had nice mount points for them.
