First Time Wrangler

I discovered this Forum today.
I have had several Jeeps over the years. Cherokee and Grand Cherokees. All bought new. My last was a '98 GC and kept it until today. Yesterday I purchased a 07 Wrangler Sahara 4Dr 4X4 "one owner" w/45K mi. Just like new. I am thinking that this Wrangler will be fun to own and drive. I am still getting acquainted with the Owners Manual (which leaves a lot to be desired).

There are a couple of questions so far.
1. The Owners Manual says you can put Chains on Wranglers except Sahara and Rubicon. I wonder why that is? Living in the Reno, NV area we get snow and my 4WD will get be around here but going over Donner Pass California often requires chains before they will let you pass the check point.

2. The in-dash Compass is 180 Degrees off. It reads N when headed S and W when headed E. I am wondering if anyone has seen this problem and if the "Automatic" or "Manual" Calibrate will solve this anomaly.

I am looking forward to reading everyone's experiences.

Welcome!! sorry, can't help with the questions. My jeep didn't come with a compass built in, and I've never really driven in the snow in my jeep. Good Luck!

Welcome aboard!

For #1, no clue.

#2, my dad was test driving a 2012 sport and drove it in a figure 8 that reset the compass. If that doesn't work and the manual doesn't tell you, i'd google it if no one gets back to you. Perhaps check out the jk section of the forum.

Hope you enjoy your new toy!
