FNG from Colorado Springs

Hi all,

New to Jeeps, but not to forums... Just moved to Colorado Springs from Socal, and the bmw's aren't really going to cut it when that strange cold white stuff starts falling from the sky, so I'm on the lookout for a good cheap winter daily, which I'm sure will eventually become the occasional/more than occasional wheeler. Brother in law and a few buddies go locally a few times a year, and I won't want to be stuck at the back of the pack slowing people down...

In case anyone is mildly interested, the other cars (because who doesn't like pictures?):
1998 M3:

and the 2002 (a work in progress):

and the hood, before I made it a little more subtle...

Anyway, hopefully will update within the next week or so with the new rig! Questions/comments/concerns/suggestions appreciated.

Thanks folks. Forgot to mention it (and you might be able to see it in the background) but the wife has a Patriot. I have found a few good looking candidates, hoping to get a hold of one of them and drive it home Sunday.

Anyone local know of somewhere I should check besides ebay/craigslist/autotrader? I've stopped in at a few dealerships, but nobody seems to have the older, less expensive ones... or at least not without large issues.

Pulled the trigger last night, picking it up today, on a '94 4cyl 5 speed with hard top and some other goodies but almost completely stock and rust free. Have to pull out some of the janky wiring from a previous owner, but it looks like a good clean starting point!

Pics to follow tonight if I get any good ones, but more likely after I get back into town in a week or so.

My bimmer is getting ready to be parked for the winter. I drove my 330Ci for 4 winters and have had enough. I just bought an 06 TJ in the Springs a few weeks ago. But, huge issues. Not with the jeep, but with the dealer. Welcome to CO. Love the 2002, I have the new version (135i)

Thanks everyone. Finally back with pictures. The first Jeep I bought turned out to be a fiasco, the wiring needs to be thoroughly gone through. Probably several loose grounds, possible a bad alternator, put a new starter in it, runs like a dog, and then the headlights died.... Tried a new headlight switch and still nothing, haven't had time to do more work on it and figure it out. Here was the first dusting of snow (and really only one of two snows we've had this year):

Soooo, found this thing on CL... And it's way more fun so far. Skyjacker 4" lift with tcase drop, quick disconnect sways, 33's on (what I'm pretty sure are fake) beadlock wheels, flushed tail lights, a hard top that isn't cracked, a cage (that I'm not sure I'll keep), rear locker, and it even starts when I turn the key! Amazing haha. It's gotten me to work in the snow even with the low tread tires that are on it (have some deeper tread tires that came with it, but they're 31's), and while it won't win any drag races, gets me where I need to go. Time to start long term planning the SBC swap, but... That will be a while. Every time I get under there I find something new though... Like spring perches for SOA, which aren't being used... Weird. Needs some door parts, some of which got here yesterday, and it leaks a few places, but nothing bad. Needs a new gas filler neck as well.... Anyway, here are some quick pictures just to give you an idea. I need to get it out and climb something for real pictures.

Welcome. I think I've seen you post on Bimmerfest or E46 Fanatics. I'm also a BMW owner. I bought my first TJ in September. Wouldn't you know, no snow yet. Come February or March, we'll be happy we have one.

Ah, very cool! I'm on both forums, I used to be something of a forum whore (I like to think I've toned it down some). These things are very different from what I'm used to driving haha. Curbs don't scare me anymore!

Me either. Parking next to someone doesn't bother me anymore, if I'm in the jeep.
