fuel consumption

Hi, i am just in the process of buying a wrangler unlimited. I haven't decided yet, wether it is going to be a Diesel or the new Pentastar 3,6 l engine.
Can anybody, who owns a new unlimited with a pentastar engine tell me about the fuel consumption. thanks in advance guys.
Wolfgang

Jeep Fuel Consumption

Jeep Wranglers just do not get good fuel mileage. They are very heavy and it takes a lot of energy to move them down the road. There is a trade off between fun and good mileage. I think if you get somewhere between 17 and 21 mpg that is reasonable for this type of vehicle. I knew the mileage was not good when I bought my 2012 Black Forest Green Rubicon but I love the thing. So I guess my advice would be go ahead and buy the Jeep, drive reasonable and just don't worry about the mileage.

Wolfgang, Welcome Aboard! I averaged 21.3 mpg on my first tank of gas with the Pentatstar, 6 speed manual, 3.73 axle ratio, and a mix of city/highway driving.

yeah, 2,8 l CRD, had it over the weekend, nice drive, though could use a bit more power, but is moderate in consumption, averages about 12 liter/100 km
