Talking Future Wrangler owner...possibly

Hello

I am new here, hopefully posting in the correct thread. My name is Justin, I am 27 yrs old, and there is a huge possibility of me owning a Wrangler here in the near future. I now drive a 2001 F150 Supercrew 4x4 Lariat. But what better way to get aquainted with the knowledge of the wrangler than to visit a forum such as this. I hope you guys have room for a "non Jeep owner" at the time

I know, what am I doing here, right? Well, I'll start off by saying you have a wonderful forum here and I routinely look thru the threads on here, reading about adventures, mods, etc. Pretty entertaining while I work nights here at the chemical plant. I am very familiar with proper forum etiquette. I am defintely not here to compare my truck to any of the bad a** Jeeps I see on here.

I am looking into getting a Jeep in the future (depends on the economy), and not sure if I want to sell my F150 and get a 4 door unlimited or a used 2 door for cheaper and keep my truck. So, just saying hello, and keep up the interesting voyages and stories you have to tell. I am looking forward to learning about jeeps here, and like I said, really enjoy the voyages you guys/gals go on that my F150 wouldn't. Keep up the good work.

Welcome to the Forum!

You made a good choice by joining before buying, you'll get a lot of tips that might just change your mind on what model Jeep you'll want

Thanks for the welcome. My wife and I checked out a 2010 Jeep "mountain" package, unlimited 4 door the other day...I was in love with it. But, my old truck has been damn good to me. So, I may buy an older wrangler and mod it up. I really have to decide, but like I said....you guys got your chit together on the jeeps.

Welcome to WF. tj Owner or not, you are very welcome here. tj This is a great place to learn and as you can already see, you'll get a lot of opinions. tj I think that your idea to keep your truck and buy an older Jeep tj is a pretty good one. tj That way you will have something to drive to the parts store during mods. tj Um.........was that too obvious?

That went without saying. Surely you didn't think I meant just anything?

OK. What I meant to say was: He'll be happy with whatever he buys. (as long as it's a TJ) If it's not a TJ, he'll be happy with whatever he buys until someone lets him drive their TJ.

Stirin' the pot Vaultzz! Would you expect any less from me?

That's what I did. Now I have a 2000 Wrangler and a 2000 Silverado for a tow rig.

Got to also say welcome to this great site. I am also a new member but got to say i have checked out many jeep sites and this one caught my eye and is the one I joined. I love the new jeeps also but I am old school so I bought a 89 YJ cost me $3800 for a really clean rig that is lees than what the new jeep will deprecate after driving it off the lot. I know as long as i take care of my YJ it should give me a even return on my money for the most part can't say that about a new rig. I know that for a fact have worked in dealerships AKA stealerships for over 20 years. What ever you do you will love the jeep.

Thanks for the generous welcomes. Still debating the idea. My father in law just told me that he is going to gove my wife and I his 1992 F150 5.8L, which would probaly tow as well as my 2001 5.4L That would leave me the option of getting a new jeep 4 door, and still having a work/towing rig. But, we'll see. Still searching, I will own one.

I agree with keeping the truck as a tow rig and buying an older jeep, if you are mechanical buy a cj easier to work on. not as much electronics. YJ's are unique for their square eyes, TJ's are well TJ's and JK's are the cars of the bunch (but have a nice warranty)ha ha....just depends on if you want to play thing, but research it and make sure it is a sound jeep and not a cool looking jeep that is a rust bucket lemon in hiding.. enjoy enjoy enjoy and get ready to
Just

I personally think you should look for a good used TJ and keep the truck. Not sure where you are located but you can use the truck for various other chores or fun things. All depends on what you like. I used to have a camper on my truck and tow the Jeep. Still tow it behind my motorhome.

Welcome to the Forum......and since everyone is putting their 10 cents in....

Buy a YJ.....The last "real" Jeep to hit the trails or a TJ if you like a softer ride. Anything after these models forget about....Those new 4 door Jeeps are not Jeeps...they are a Cherokee with a wrangler body.

You could buy a YJ, or a TJ or you could make the right choice and buy a JK and make all your dreams come true, especially a 4dr...the bigger the oven, the hotter the lovin.

Well, I know it has been a few months since I have been on here, but I finally did it, I finally moved to something new. I sign the papers on a 2011 JK Unlimited 4x4 6-speed manual, black with black interior, hard top. I decided to trade in the 01 Supercrew since I now have the 1992 F150 my father-in-law was nice enough to hand over (which is a great work truck). So, tomorrow, it's mine...all mine. I have it for tonight. I may go and try out the 4x4 before signing the papers. Nice to be on the forum again, looking foward to discussions on here
