Good Idea

Howdy, MouthfulOfGrass. Welcome to WF.
Why don't you start an intro thread and tell us something about yourself and your jeep.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've been 4 wheelin' for a few years riding "shotgun" with others in their rigs, and finally got myself in the situation to get my own Jeep. A relative (in law) has several Wranglers, and was upgrading his -frequent user- to a newer model (2003 X), so I bought his older one off of him . It's a red '98 SE, with a black hardtop and tan interior (yuck, tan doesn't go well IMO, with black & red).

It's got the 4 cyl. with 5 speed manual. It was originally sunk in mud and salvaged becaused a prior owner hydraulic-ed it (sucked water into the cylinders).

It has 100,000 miles on it and still gets 18 mpg city as my daily driver. I've taken off the 33's and put stock wheels on for daily driving so I can save $$ and save the big tires for off road. Plus the stock wheels & tires were donated when my relative had his '03X lifted and ProComp-ed with wheels & 33's.

Recently gave it a minor face-lift by getting some Mothers plastic restorer and got the oxidized pale grey fender plastic to look nice and charcoal colored (almost black even).

Something I recommend to others who are running in the 100k mile range - take it in to your dealer and get the fuel injection serviced - it gave me an improvement of 3 mpg, and noticeable power increase.

'Nuff for now, thanks for makin' me feel welcome. Lookin' forward to reading every tech post.

I'm not gonna go over that......

Oh, and "MouthfulOfGrass" is a song by the band Free. I like Blues-Rock and Southern Rock. Although I do have an older brother, like someone mentioned.

I'm not gonna go over that......

Hey, you finally bought your own thread. Now don't you feel better??

Welcome to the forum. Never heard the song, but had a big brother who used to spit on me, not far from making a little sibling from eating grass.

Welcome to the forum! This is without question the best Wrangler forum in existence. You'll find tremendous support and accurate advice here for your "journey" with your Jeep. Again, welcome!
