I'm from North Carolina. I grew up in Lexington, went to school in Raleigh (Go Pack!) and now work in Kinston, a small town near ECU and about an hour from the coast. I've also lived and worked in Kenly for the best little newspaper in the world. So if anyone mentions any of those places (or their neighbors), I'll probably get really excited and post a reply just to say what's up.
I've had my '05 TJ for about 2 1/2 years now. It's not my first Jeep. I had a '94 Grand Cherokee for the previous four years. It met its untimely demise when I ran into a tractor at 55 mph (missed a stop sign on a back country road and walked away VERY lucky). Shortly after the wreck (I still had a cast on my right leg and plenty of bruises for souvenirs), I bought my TJ.
After spending a TON of time on Jeepforum.com, I started figuring out what kind of personality I wanted my new Jeep to have.
So far, it has a custom front bumper from a vendor in Virginia who has an awesome eBay store called Ground Pounder Fab. I also recently bought a Smittybilt rear classic rock bumper with a swing-out tire carrier.
The Smittybilt winch is going on shortly, and the interior is getting a Herculiner treatment as soon as it warms up a little (shouldn't take long in these parts). The CB that I got for Christmas ought to be installed by the end of the week.
I have big plans for this Jeep, including 2.5" to 3" of suspension lift and enough body lift to clear the 33" tires that I have planned. I'm trying to get it ready for regular trips to Uwharrie.
And I plan to use this site as another knowledge base and as a spot to get some hints from local Jeepers.
