Greetings from the Poconos

Greetings My Fellow Jeep Enthusiasts,

It's been a truly refreshing experience to get back into something I haven't enjoyed for almost 20 years. I recently bought an '02 Wrangler X to pacify my mid-life cravings for fun....and it's just what the doctor ordered!!!

I can't believe how much the newer platforms have evolved compared to my previous '68 CJ6 I owned many years ago. Power steering, fuel injection, disk brakes, a high output motor!.... I can go on all day but you guys get the point. (No disrespect intended to you CJ drivers).

The best part had to be when I was pulling out of the dealership and was proceeding down the road when another Jeep approached me. The other driver waved and as if my subconscious mind was guiding me, without thought or hesitation, after 20 years of being Jeep less, my hand came off the wheel to return the greeting. To say the least, that moment was priceless. It instantly brought me back to that intangible feeling of being part of something unique, something special...the Jeep Club.

It is because of your efforts the Jeep culture has remained alive and vibrant. My humble appreciation goes out to all of you for keeping the Jeep tradition a truly vibrant American icon. Many, many thanks indeed and thank you for the opportunity to participate in your forum.

See you on the trails,

Speaking as one of the cj people we don't take it too personal, we made the decision to drive the older vehicle. Mainly for nostalgic reasons. Also not all the cool people come from PA. I personally know some very cold ones in MI.

1978 CJ7, frame off rebuild, NV3550, Dana 300(twin stick with a sight tube), I6(258), Dana 44 Scout Axles with 4.09 gears, truetrac LSD. The rest yet to be decided.
