Talking He killed the 1st one, bets on how long it will take to kill #2

Yea, the "he" is the husband who drives anything into the ground. I have no idea how he does it but after the first truck and 2 cars I wised up and went JEEP!
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

So tonight he calls and says he heard a loud bang and the 94' stopped running. Got the tow strap and hauled it to the house, maglight whispers...#1 cylinder is toast. Can hardly wait to see what damage the engine took but a Jeep won't throw a piston through an aluminum block so this will be fun. I let him drive that one first because it needs more work than the 89' under the hood - needless to say he wasn't happy when I told him I was just waiting for him to break it.
(yea, still giggling over that)

Anyway when finances permit I'll be putting up damage pictures and tear down to rebuild threads. This is gonna be fun stuff all over again with minimal tools and dry space to work in, time for some blue tarp set up!

It WILL throw a connecting rod through the SIDE of an iron block though... The 4 bangers have something of a habit of doing that as a failure mode.

I know that can happen but I'd been hearing some lifter noise lately, it might just be a top end rebuild though its as good excuse as any to 'refresh' the engine, U joints (tranny and rear are still holding up), ALL bushings, shackles...endless list.

Me too. Rainy and windy so tarp set up is going to have to wait a few days, I really want to take the valve cover off and see what bits and pieces of metal are floating around.

Things that have been waiting for this to happen:
braided steel lines with anodized fittings
new valve cover with 3 gaskets (always have 3 when putting on a new one)
flowmaster dual cat back someone gave me years ago, need to cut and weld
new hood latches and vent cover
new vacuum lines and fittings
3 harnesses for stripping
new poly bushings
4 cans of PB blaster
new cam shaft
aaaaaaaand...I'd have to dig in the big box to see what else I ordered a year ago for it but it took 3 weeks of boxes coming in almost every day.
Already replaced all the window and door gaskets, rear window tension bars, boot cover aaaaaaaand crap my memory is gone from the first "it was cheap" round.
