I am excited to be a part of this forum, as these forums are the way to understand vehicles, as I usually post on porsche forums. I have always loved by '89 Jeep, and I finally pulled the trigger on a 2006 TJ Rubicon, black on black. 51K miles. Automatic. Has a factory nav and subwoofer (cool for 2006). I love driving it, and the prior owner had put on a lift 4" I think and some 35" tires. It is really fun, and best of all my wife loves it. I would love to know what you experienced guys would say should be done to it, as far as (side steps/nerf bars), audio system (hard to hear it bc of distortion, though it has the sound bar.), replace bushings (based on age), trans fluid change etc.
I have to say that I am crazy and I want to build an engine to place in this vehicle, and I was thinking of starting from scratch and make a stroker engine, and then just swap out the stock engine. I hope that this isn't met with hate, but I want to build an engine and I want to keep this jeep stock, and when I pull the original engine, I will then swap in the modified engine. I just want a cool project to work on, and I don't really care if it is a waste of money as some may think. I just have always wanted to do this, and if it makes this cool machine slightly faster and more fun, then that's my motivation. I would take any suggestions as to anything, and thanks in advance for reading such a long post.
