hello everyone I need help

My 07 jeep wrangled just had a rebuilt motor put in and since it was done I have had the issue with it not shifting out of second gear. The dash shows all the gear indicators in square boxes and after a bill of $550 at the transmission shop I was told it is not reading any codes nor accepting any codes. It is an automatic. Any suggestions. And I have already had a new ignition switch installed due to a mechanics recommendation.
