Hello From Ky with a few Questions

Hello everyone,
I have been a jeep lover since high school. I have always wanted one but being a mother of 4 it kinda wasn't an option. minivan, minivan, minivan... But now that my boys are teenagers 14 & 16 and we live in the country, i figured we could go for it. I have always told them their first car HAS to be a stick shift. It is safer in my eyes! (I guess thats because my first car was a stick and I know with a stick you have to pay more attention to driving)

I have found a 1997 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 Sport in our price range, 2000.00 It is a little ruff on the outside, needs a new top. The brush guard is completely rusted out. And when my husband was looking it over he saw that the bracket attached to the axle housing the one that attaches to the suspension is bent badly! So he is worried that it will cost way to much to fix and way out of our price range. My excitement went right out the window :/

My question to you is; with this bent bracket is the jeep still worth 2000? Or do you think that this can be straightened or re welded. OR does the entire axle housing have to be replaced? if so I have been pricing and that is WAY to much, might as well keep looking.

Thanks so much and I am glad to have found this site!!

Shaina welcome to the forum!!! Get some pics of the bracket and post up on the TJ page and post your question. Give year, model, engine, trans and any other info you have tell them the story looking to buy and is this a deal breaker. It may be sommething easy or very expensive. With the TJ being on coil springs it could be bad but I am just guesssing. Front axle or rear axle what bracket is it and how did it get bent. Hope this helps and maybe you can get it all figured out and still get a deal.

Thanks, We are going back tomorrow to check it out again. We didn't have much time today because hubby was working on getting parts for our car and didn't get back until almost dark. :/ So I will try to take a picture.

She said that while it was parked a woman hit the passenger side head on in 2007. The fender has little damage, bent up a little. One main reason Billy looked under that side first. The bracket is attached to the axle housing on the front axle passenger side.

Billy said that there was some rust too underneath so?? I will def take pics tomorrow!!

Thanks again for your quick response! And thanks to you others who have welcomed me
