Started reading these forums when I decided on deployment that I was going to buy a new Jeep. Drove a '97 Forest Green TJ for 5 years; senior year of HS and 4 years of college. It cost $1800 with 94,000 miles on it, no carpet, no A/C, half doors with soft top, manual, and a busted radio. I loved it. Unfortunately, driving back to college my senior year(9 hour trip) the 5th gear went out. Driving at 60 mph on I95 in 4th is no fun so I had to bench it(not sell it).
With gas prices the way they are and with me being out of a job for 6 months after graduation (long story), my mind was set on cheap and fuel efficient. My father happens to work at a Chrysler dealership so he helped research it out for me and found a car that seemed to fit my needs: a 2011 Dodge Avenger. Was happy with the car at first but at 10,000 miles the transmission went out
Was covered by warranty, was fixed at no cost to me. But from then on out I hated it and missed driving my Jeep more then ever. So to remedy this, I'm going to order a 2013 CG JKR with all the things that made me like the car without me having to drive a PO...
. Still working on price, looks like total cost with my options for Jeep(before taxs & fees) will be $31,200. Not only am I stoked to get back from this 9 month deployment to see family and friends, but if everything works out the way I'm planning, I'll have a new Jeep waiting for me
