Hello from Metro Detroit Michigan

I've been visiting this site for the last month and I find it very informative, funny and just plain good reading. At this time I don't own a Jeep Wrangler. I only wanted one a few weeks ago and when I found this site it made me want one more. First, I tried to look up Metro Detroit dealers and how ppl were treated (buying experience to service) and I couldn't find a thread for that. The closest ones for me are: Parkway (in Clinton TWP.) and Mike Reihl (in Roseville) If anyone has experience with either dealership I appreciate the feedback.

Second, I found 2 used Wranglers: 2008Unlimited X Detonator Yellow w/38,000+ miles for $21,000 and the other 2007 2door Burgundy Rubicon with 87,0000 miles on it for the same price. Which one is the better deal? The Rubi's mileage is a big deter for me. I feel a vehicle should have about 15,000 miles or less per year (for the price they're selling it)

Finally, (I'm sorry) If I decide to look at this Unlimited how does it drive overall? I've read how ppl complain about the lack of punch in the powertrain but I test drove a 2011 2 door and it felt adequate for it's class but with the extra weight of the Unlimited does it feel sluggish for passing, making that quick left turn to avoid getting hit?

Thank-you for taking the time in reading this and giving me any feedback for a newbie.

Welcome to the forum! Not sure about the JK's, other than the Rubi has more options!

welcome!

I can tell you the 4 door wranglers feel underpowered on the street but I'm not taking mine to Milan and running it down the 1/4 mile track with her so I'm not worried about it... are there times I wished I had more 'oomph'? sure but it didn't stop me from turning in 3 year lease on one and buying another!! I love all wranglers and I love my extra 2 doors (well, my kids love the extra doors)

dealers? more than you listed... I pass by one on 8 mile (west of I-75) everyday on way to work, they have a Special Ops black 4 door on their display ramp out front so I look everytime!!!

The Rubi with high miles seems to have been driven ALOT... not sure I'd want that many miles on it allready? have you looked at craigslist if you are going used? I hate to say it but I drove down to Monroe to get my last 2 Jeep deals.... the dealers up here seem to suck at going that extra mile

good luck!

welcome brother michigander!!if you are not in a hurry, search private sellers.not to be a bottom feeder but somtimes you can find a deal from a person who has to sell their wrangler due to money issues. my feelings towards dealers are, they all suck.seems like they all want to get ya to hurry up and sign on the dotted line so they can move on to the next buyer. i got mine from c.l. i feel i got a decent deal. again welcome to the forum! you'll find alot of useful info and somtimes not so useful but being here is a blast,

Welcome from a native Michigan guy, now living in Texas. I would check the underbody carefully, as Michigan loves to salt the roads. Don't rush the purchase, and I would avoid dealers if at all possible. IMO Enjoy your jeep when you get it.

Thank you all for the responses. I'm not in a big rush to get into a Wrangler (either 2 or 4 door). I need to pay off my car off or get more equity into it so when I do a trade-in then I have a partial down payment for the vehicle. BUT if I see a deal then I needed the Jeep experts on this forum. The 4 door X model seemed to be the better deal (it's in the used lot at a Ford Dealership). I may have to go there Monday and REALLY check it out. I'll keep you posted.
