Hello from Washington

Hi there new to this forum. I have a 99 wrangler soft top 4.0L inline 6 SE.
I also have some questions which is why I'm here. Should I submit a new thread for them? I haven't finished reading all the archives yet.

for any of the questions you have you can try to use the search to find the answers to your questions. if the search does not bring up any results then you can post up a new thread. what questions do you have? we can either direct you to the thread that will answer your question or we can just answer it here. don't be afraid to ask questions we are very friendly here and are always more than willing to help. if you ever have a question or problem that you need addressed you can always "private message" the moderators or administrators they are very knowledgeable and helpful and will get you in the right direction quickly.

by the way, welcome to the forum .

Questions

Thanks!

1.
Do you need a special wrench to get to the bolt on the distributor? My screws from my cap sheared off and I wasn't able to get the broken ones out. I can't seem to reach the bolt well enough to get enough torque to turn it. I am sure I have seen wrenches for this in other vehicles.

2. If you buy a replacement top and plan to use the original hardware do you have to reuse the plastic snap in place liners above the doors?

3. How do you remove the center console?

4. Is there a thread showing step-by-steps for replacing the factory seats?

Any help on these would be great. I have already got some great ideas from this site.

Welcome. Where is Washington are you?

1. Not sure never had to loosen the bolt.

2. If you are talking about the surrounds, no you don't. The plastic strips that snap into the surrounds are part of the top and can't be removed.

3. What kind of console? Should just be a few screws holding it to the floor.

4. Seats are held down with 4 bolts. You could try searching Corbeau's web site and see if they have removal instructions.

I'm in Bothell for now - lived in Redmond for a couple of years but spent last year in the UK - my Jeep just spent 17 months under a half tarp parked up here. Getting it road ready again.

1. Not sure never had to loosen the bolt.

I found that the distributor wrenches available at the local auto store were not working as there wasn't enough room to pivot. I ended up buying this - - Link and using the 1/2" one - fair warning - it is a pain to get the clamp back on. Take a good look at how it is setup before you remove the bolt.

Ok that's good to know. I didn't know what they were called.

3. What kind of console? Should just be a few screws holding it to the floor.

The stock console in-between the front seats. It is also the armrest and has a lid with a lock on it. I just started pulling up the carpet and would like to put in a tub liner.

4. Seats are held down with 4 bolts. You could try searching Corbeau's web site and see if they have removal instructions.

I'll give it a look thanks for the answers.

Thanks everyone for the welcome
