Got my fully loaded 2012 Rubicon in September, the last Forest Green left! It's with leather tan interior. Super excited. I waited all year to get the 2012 because of the new pentastar engine. Works well in the snow and on the road and everywhere else. Love the satellite radio and heated seats and modular top! I feel GREAT driving my car every day. What other car can traverse snow in the winter and be a convertible in the summer? Why get anything else? Oh, and I can’t wait for the Jeep Jamboree!
Anyway, I have two questions – if this is the wrong forum, please let me know, I’ll repost.
What do you all do for hood security? There is no lock on the hood (only those two clips) and the lock the dealer wanted to sell me was $900 with installation. That’s a lot of money. What do you all do to prevent some ass from opening the hood and causing undue stress?
I'm in a bind… My Jeep Wrangler came with Rock Rails – which I like for the protection, but I think the Molded side steps would be more useful more often (helpful when removing snow, putting the top on/off, and for the other passengers). Is there anything that combines both functions (protection and utility?) Can I install the molded side steps along with the rock rails?
I had the same thought you did it regards to your Rock Rails and having side steps as well. I am sure their is a crafty welder out there who could give you the protection from rocks as well as steps. However, I just took off the rock rails on my 2010 Ruby and replaced them with stock tubular side steps from Mopar. No way you can get both with what comes with the kits unless you do something custom.
