It is the gayest thing I have ever seen.....but I could not pass up the good deal.
I just aquired a 97 with factory purple paint. My Dad and I are teaming up to fix it up for some daily driver duties as well as trail time.
I use to have a 4X4 Blazer that did regular trail duties, but I sold it a few years ago. I have since missed the trail, and always wanted a jeep. A friend of my Dad's had been driving this Jeep for years, and he finally decided to part with it. My dad bought it, and asked if I would be interested in fixing it up. I could not resist the opportunity to finally be back on the trail again.
The first thing I did was start to strip it close to a bare tub (leaving the drivetrain) to prepare it for new paint. I hope to have it in the paint booth in a couple of weeks.
The only thing I hate about this Jeep besides the hideous paint, is the fact that it has a four cylinder, which is too doggish for my taste. I joined this site in hopes to learn about popular modifications. I am interested in swaping to either the 4 liter straight six, or perhaps the newer 3.8 V6.
I have years of hot rodding experience and did my fair share of drag racing, so I am pretty handy when I have a wrench in my hands. However, I am not quite ready to pioneer new ground when it comes to modifications. I am looking for a straight forward swap that has been done many times with good aftermarket support.
I am looking forward to getting aquainted with the Jeep community, and learning all about my new favorite toy.
mine started life with me as a bone stock 79 cj7 with pizza cutters for tires. 10 years and a lot of cash its now the jeep ive always wanted. now if i can only get the wife to quit stealing it I might get to drive it. she leave me the baby jeep.
