hi, new socal member checking in.

just joined these forums to find out information about jeeps since i see myself as a potential buyer [soon?]

how i got introduced to jeeps: my cousins and i were gonna watch a movie and decided we would go w/ one of their friends that has a open top [lifted] jeep. boy was it a blast.. since then i've been hooked because i love the feeling [i dont know why but its awesome]

i just wanted to ask 2 quick questions.. are they reliable as daily drivers? and whts the insurance like on them? [i have 21st century]

see you around the forums!

Welcome to WF.

My jeep is my daily driver and it always gets me where I need to go, even when non-jeep owners are snowed in.

My insurance is pretty low but I've got other things going for me that vehicle type. YMMV

It ain't easy being cheesy:

Sometimes I make decisions like famous people.
George Armstrong Custer "lets go over that hill, I think those are friendly indians!"

Titanic's Captain Smith "What icebergs? Full speed ahead!"

Welcome to the forum.

To answer your first question - yes they can make a great daily driver in stock form and even modified form. The only thing you have to be carefull of is when you start to modify your Jeep you need to be sure that all the components are of good quality, they're installed properly, and they (at least) enhance the other components on your Jeep. Stock Jeeps are great. Modified Jeeps can pose some "daily driver" problems.

Also as far as insurance goes there are too many facrors involved in that to give you a firm answer. What you will need to realize is they are all 4wd and they're basically considered a convertible. Both of which usually have higher insurance rates (usually).

In the 7 years I've owned my Jeep the only thing that broke was a sway bar connector. Heck, I'm still running my stock rear brakes. I drive it everyday, it is my ONLY vehicle. For now. Soon it will become a trail rig, and then ALL bets are off.

Your insurance rates will depend on your driving record. I used to drive a 95 Monte Carlo in another life, and the insurance for my Jeep brand new, was about the same. Now that I'm older than 25 it has gone down even more. I think I pay about 65 bucks a month for full coverage. I have no accidents on my record. knock on wood.

Also, I don't know where you are located but if you're looking for a new Jeep, I'm in sales at a dealership in PA. We can drop ship to any dealership in the U.S. Just FYI. I'm not a pushy SOB or anything. Well not usually. lol
