How many miles is considered new?

So Im having my local dealership locate a JKU for me, Ltd SLip, 3.73 ratio, Hardtop, etc.

Yesterday after work I have him write up the worksheet and appraise my WRX and work numbers. He says he located one somewhere in NYC/Brooklyn area.

I go to my bank today and get an outstanding APR (for me at least) and I call my dealer to see if he was able to locate it. He says yep and he's going to pick it up tomorrow. I ask him how its getting here. He said hes driving it. I would think flatbedding or trailering.

I ask him how many miles are on it and he states 175. So now its not really new? Then he tells me they got it from another dealer. He then states those 175 are all highway miles. I tell him he has no way of guaranteeing it and its unacceptable.

Do I have reason to be this upset? I'd think a new car/truck would have less than 50miles. Thats pretty reasonable.

Sorry for the rant.

Ya, that's crappy. You may want to see if they can sweeten the deal to compensate puting the extra miles on it. By definition, a new vehicle is simply one that has never had a title issued to an individual owner. So technically there is no limit on how many miles can be on a vehicle for it to be considered "new".

In the mean time I just wanted to say . . .

Hey dude, I would ask for an additional year on the warranty.. Pressure them a little and you should be able to get it. Cheers

I know a friend who bought a new toyota and it had 300 some miles on it!

My 10' Rubicon had 131 miles on it when I got it... A lot can depend on how many and how long test drives were!

You could at least try to get a better deal or something.. Tell them you were always expecting to only have a few miles on your Jeep...

My 12' JKU only had 2 miles on it when I first drove it=D
