How to identify Dana axles?

I'm new to jeeps. I just got a 2001 tj with 2.5 liter engine. I been trying to identify the axles. Some told me I have a 30 in front and 35 in rear and some said 35 and 35. My question is if it's stock can I identify what it is and get spline count and gear ratios from the numbers on the cover?

This is the axle tag that I have for the rear axle. If I'm reading it right does it have 4:11 ratio? I doubt that it does just because this jeep seems to be on the cheap end. But I'm not a expert.

You are correct.

I think all the 2.5's came with 4.11 gears.

Not bad, thanks. Do you have an idea of spine count for the shaft?

So just to be sure, this is a D35 correct? I looked at the chart, but I'm just curious because of the plug hole size and location. Also, I think I read somewhere that D35 had rubber plugs.

That is a rubber plug under the paint. Yes all yj and tjs came with a 30 front and 35 rear unless you got a rubicon then it's a 44 front and back. All 4cyl have 4:10 and 6cyl have 3:73

4cly TJ's came with dana 30 and 35, 5spd have the 4.11 auto's came with 3.73's.

6cly ranged from 3.55 to 4.11(rubicon) during the production.

dana 44 rear was an option on 6cly (std. front rear on rubicon)

you could in later year upgrade the 4cly to a 6cly, but it still had the dana 35 rear as i recall.

How to ID differntials

Hi all, First post and I can't find a thread starter button Soooo.. I have 2 axles that were left on a property I purchased and hope they are a pair. Both are 5 lug on a 4.5"daimeter. The rear has drum brakes and a number
23599*(Chrysler emblem) 1032 and 64.5' wide lug to lug. I opened the punkin and count 45 teeth on the ring and 14 pinion.

The front looks like a Dana and is stamped 44 also has a number 820121R and disc brakes with 67" width lug to lug. It is froze up but I didn't see gear damage so it could just be the brakes are stuck I will try to attach photo's, the first 3 are rear

Would like to know what these came off, what the gear ratio's are and what they might sell for? Thanks

45/14 = 3.21

I think the rear is a chrysler 8.25 and the front a dana 44

The dana 44 probably came out of a older 1/2ton truck and the 8.25 was in the cherokees and commanchees
