Howdy! I've been a member of the forum for a while, but have been (shamefully
) sandbagging on the forums gleaning as much information as I can about this wonderful new machine I purchased about a year ago. I am a first time Jeep owner, and if I had known just how much fun my YJ was going to be, I would have bought one of these 20 years ago! It is definitely the most fun I've ever had on four wheels!
Anyway, I am the proud owner of a '89 YJ that is as bone stock as it can get. It has the 2.5l and 5 speed manual in it and I have found the limitations of this underpowered critter. This is why it is in the beginning stages of a radical overhaul and is destined to have a small Chevrolet V8 and TH350 implanted very soon. A four inch suspension lift is also among the mods because 33" mudding rubber is a definite necessity. The high desert of Central Oregon offers some of the best wilderness interface areas and miles and miles of desert trails to explore.
This group is awesome! There are some very knowledgeable folks here that seem to be extremely helpful and willing to spread their wealth of information to those in need. To all of you, I say THANK YOU in advance and I look forward to picking some brains and providing any help I can to anyone I can.
