well, jeeps are a different vehicle from what most are used to. you will have play in the gears, such as when going from reverse to drive.

are you having problems? it would be much easier to help if you described whats happening.

well the right rear axle slips in and out about a tenth of an inch so when im going down the road it makes a loud clunking sound. I pulled the axle out and looked at the bearing but it seemed to in good condition.

are you certain thats the clunk? the axles are held in w/ c clips, there will be a small amount of play in and out. if its excessive you could have a worn center pin, c clip, axle shaft or bearing. never really heard of a clunk noise from that though.

when does the clunk happen? certain speeds, certain gears, engine load, over bumps?

there are alot of things wrong with it so it is possible it could be something else. I think it might be the track bar too now that i think about it. But the noise usually happens normally when turning. How much play is there normally supposed to be? Because it is alot of movement.

a tenth of an inch isn't too much. you can remove the rear trac bar and drive it. most guys ditch them completely on a yj. rides much nicer without it, and you will not roll over and die.
