Just bought a Wrangler

Hi everyone. Got my first Jeep. A 2000 Wrangler Sport with most of the options. From the frame up it looks almost new. Frame is bad. I knew what I was buying. I have a little break for a couple of weeks. Would like to get it woodlot ready in that time. Maybe can even get it road worthy. I have already gotten answers to some of my questions from the site. Need to learn my way around a bit and see how this works. Really appreciate whoever got this thing together. Will go and pay some dues to help keep it going. Be talking soon.

I should have taken some pics. Looked like a pretty little thing right out of the showroom. Frame looks 100 yrs old. Already spent 2 days on it investigating it and tearing it apart. Ordered some new parts and dug in my scrap inventory for some sheet metal for the couple of soft spots that were previously patched with bondo, and some flat stock for the frame. I have several 8 X 10 sheets to work with. Have some questions about the best way to go about fixing the frame. Should I start another thread? For instance, Should I take the body off? Would be easier to get at the frame. I have stuff to work with. Welders, torches, air tools, boom man-lift that will lift 1000 lbs etc. Is it more hassle than it would be worth because I can do it with the body on but its will be close quarters to work in.

Last nite I posted some of my questions in the TJ general discussion forum but got little response. Is that the right forum for rusted frame questions?

Yup, that's a good area but the tech section would probably be better, here you'll get more welcomes than advise.

To get feedback in a post, there are a few ways to get better responses. If in the thread title you just put "Help!" or "Need Advise!" you may not get the experts to a particular problem. However if you put something like "Need advise on frame repair" or something similar you'll get better attention.

Second is the body of the post should spell out the problem and only one problem. People hate posts where someone is asking for advise on tires, wheels, backspacing, lift and whether will need flat fenders with all that.

And the last thing is pics, people love pics. For mechanics that would rather crawl under the Jeep snf look at the problem, pics is the next best thing.
