looking for jeeps

I am currently looking to purchase a Jeep Wrangler or Cherokee. It will more than likely be an automatic. Are there any particular years I should avoid? What are some things that I should be on the lookout for?

Hello birdell, and welcome to the WF. There are a lot of things to consider when buying a Jeep. What is the main purpose that you intend to use it for? Daily driver, trail riding, rock crawling, etc.......different grades of Jeeps are more capable than others, and have various improvements to drive train etc. So you have to ask yourself, what would you like to do with your Jeep? Are lockers important to you? This gives you real 4 wheel drive. If you just want a Jeep for putting around town with, than a basic model will serve you well. If you would like more room than a standard wrangler, than look into the unlimited version. There are many choices, and combinations to ponder.

Whatever you do, stay far far away from the 96s. Don't even consider it.

Not very nice... Especially when people that purchased either late '95 YJ's or early '97 TJ's still call them '96's. Seriously though, welcome to the club, and through your search, you will figure out why this is funny!

If you have to ask what it is or what it does, you don't need it, and you will need help to install it!
