Mornin I'm new

Hello, I have been looking to buy a jeep for awhile. I am looking for a daily driver which I thought was a 2 door, but here lastly I have been riding with my little brother in his 07 unlimited Sahara and I love it. So I decided that for my first jeep I will try the unlimited.s I have been checking out the info on here and it's helped me a lot, and I figured it was time to join and ask for some help so here it goes. To tell you alittle bit of what it would be used for,I work in the oil refinery s so I travel a lot it will be taking me to and from the jobs, also me and my brothers do a lot of camping, hunting and fishing so it will see a lot of trails, when we go camping we sleep in hammocks so if there are no trees it will be alright cause we can tie up between both jeeps, anyway my little brother has gotten in rock climping so here's the thing I'm thinking of a rubicon, jku, stock that way I know what's on the jeep, and as much as I hate to say it an auto tranny I love a manual but little bro said if he had to do it over its just easier as an auto so what do y'all think, and thanks for the help

Well first of all Welcome to the forum. I think you are making the right move and going for the unlimited. Especially since it sounds like you would really utilize all the extra space they have to offer. I had an 08 2 door a few years ago and always wished I had bought an unlimited. Thats what my next one will be an Unlimited. Right now I got me a sweet 93.

A stock rubicon will take you quite a few place. Really helps they have the lockers and meaty tires. I am in the same boat with the transmission situation, I have a stick now and my 08 was a stick as well... While they are fun to drive, it can really suck at times. I am over driving stick now... lol.

Are you looking at brand new or picking up a used one?

Welcome Aboard! IMO if you want manual, get it. You will be driving it not your brother.

The unlimited is well worth it. I've always loved the original 2 door jeep look but i wouldn't trade my 4 door for anything. The manual transmission is fun before i was skeptical but once i learned i am very glad i got the manual, its a ton of fun plus you look like a badass (well for my generation, since no one knows how to drive a manual transmission any more) plus no one can barrow your jeep.

manual trans vs automatic

Welcome to the forum, and Ill put in a plug for the automatic transmission. Ive always been a double clutchin manual trans guy(drove truck for 25 years) but my wife talked me into an automatic this time. Its nice not havin to shift gears, and when the top and doors are off up in the mountains, my foot is always out on the running board.
The other thing was fuel mileage. Im averaging 17-19 with my automatic, so Im happy with that.... either way its alot of fun.
