My First Jeep

'Always wanted a CJ/Wrangler (b/c it's too expensive to pay the welder to take the top off of the other models ).

Saved. Saved. Saved some more.

Now I own a brand new 2008 Sahara. Woo hoo!

I have no idea if it's a YJ, TJ, whatever...

Only "accessory" so far is Yakima spare-mounted bike rack.

Things I want (in order and as I save up for them):

Soft top of some sort
Winch (not sure how/if it can go on stock front bumper)
Light bar (maybe one that isn't permanently mounted?)

Semi-broke it in last week on a few 4wd roads in Rio Grande NF.

yeah friend your gonna blow alot of money so start saving, and the front bumper on those are made to be trashed, it was a " save " point on the jeep, the were designed to just be thrown off for another, so no it won't work...i think!!! and i love eating snookerdoodle cookies. make me some please!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

welcome to WF and the addiction!
make SURE to wave to all wranglers, there's nothing i hate more than some idiot in a JK that bought it b/c they couldn't afford a hummer
anyway all lightbars will come off they're not welded on, but they will all require bolt to take off, there are some that will flip back so that the lights face up and are tucked back so that it only sticks a few inches above the jeep if thats what you're worried about

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

I couldn't afford a Jeep, much less a Hummer. I've really been saving for awhile. Besides, my family would disown me if I bought certain vehicles - Hummers (though I'd probably get away with an old H1 after they forgave me for selling my house to get it), BMWs, etc... Here in NM, Jeeps are extremely common and used Jeeps aren't significantly less expensive than new. There are several just on my block.

Last summer, we had to go look for someone in my dad's Cherokee in the dark. While it wasn't off-road (though relatively hard-core, granny-gear, slow-going 4WD), it was hairy! I was tempted to offer to sit on the roof with a flashlight. I swore then I was getting a light bar if I ever got a Jeep.

Mark
