I just got her home today. 99 Sahara with 68k miles.
I have always wanted a Wrangler and I finally found myself a little project. I have been building and playing with Hummer H1's for 12 years or so and I wanted to try something a little smaller this time.
First up will be wheels and tires (I have never seen tires this bald). Then its off for paint followed by a new top and stereo. The list after that is long but I'm trying to take it one step at a time. I have 100's of questions but I'm going to keep using the search button for a couple weeks.
Here are a few pics. Thanks in advance for putting up with me.
I was in the same boat a few weeks back. I always wanted a Jeep but they always seemed just out of reach. I finally decided to MAKE it happen, and it was actually pretty easy.
I had a crash course in Wranglers thanks to the internet. Narrowed my choice down to a 2 year window of production to get what I wanted, found it and then started trying to learn what to do with it. lol
There is so much out there, lift kit options, tire/wheel combos, top choices... it's crazy. The TJ is just endless in the possibilities to customize or tweak it, and these guys on this forum have been a huge asset.
I have so far replaced my top, wheels, brakes, tune up, seat covers, speakers, gauge lights, fenders, light body armor, side steps, steering stabilizer and had an alarm installed.
Things I have purchased that are sitting on side waiting for me to have the spare time to complete are... new head unit, 2 amps, sub woofer, new carpet, 3 sets of lights, 1" body lift, 2" suspension spacer lift, Rancho shocks, air filter monitor... I think that's about it.
So I have done a lot of research. lol... If you have any question just ask away. I pretty much have a 24 hr connection to the internet being a computer tech so I am never far away. lol
Good luck, and welcome. I'm sure those H1's are nice, but there is nothing like a Jeep.
