New and Greetings From SoCal!

Hi All!

I just took possession of a red '91 Jeep Wrangler. 4.0L Six Cylinder. Love it!!!

I have a couple of questions that I was hoping you good folks would help me answer:

1)Exactly what model is it? Is it a "YJ" or "CJ" ??? I don't really know what
trim type it is. It doesn't say in the title.
2)There is this orange arrow outline that lights up every now and then
when I accelerate that's on the center black dash above the
steering wheel and then it goes away, what exactly does that mean and
what is it telling me?
3)Is there a solution to the mirrors from getting knocked out of position due
to strong gusts of wind? I replaced them with brand new ones and the
driver's side keeps getting whacked out of place by a good strong wind.
4)Is there some kind of a brush guard/light bar/bull bar out there for the 91
Wranglers that's not too expensive but beefy enough and easy to install?

Thanks folks!
Hope you can help me answer these questions. I love truckin' around in the Jeep!

You have a YJ. CJ's went out of production around 87 I believe. The arrow you see is the shift indicator. It's telling you that you should shift up to the next gear.

Welcome to JEEP-ing!

Square headlights = YJ

SHIFT!!!!

Sounds like something isn't tight, they should stay put pretty well..

Beefy enough for what? Are you going to be hitting bulls? Or lights? Or just brush? J/K!

Hey SoCaler. Welcome to our house.

Go online and order catalogs from 4wd hardware, and quadratec. Even if you don't buy from them those catalogs are gold for seeing what's out there for modding your jeep.

There should be two screws on the bottom of your mirrors, on either side of the post. Make sure they are tight.

Sweet!!! Thanks folks!!! I knew there was something about that light being some sort of shift light! SHIFT!!! LOL!!! Thanks!!

As far as the brush guard, LOL!!! No, I won't be hitting bulls, lights nor brush, just want something to put some off road lights on.

I'll go check the bolts under the mirrors. The driver's side mirror moving around is rather annoying!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I feel like family already.

Thanks for the continued warm welcome good friends!
Rawkon, I'm not too far from you, I'm in Long Beach. Will actually be moving up North in Sacramento this Sunday though because of work.

I've passed by a couple of Jeeps since I've gotten mine and I've tried to give them props either by nods or a hand wave, and you're right, not so much in the city but pretty cool nonetheless!

I meant to ask. Know how all cars have that inherent quirk that's synonymous to them that those who own them swear by as being a recurring issue?
With Jeeps, perhaps especially with 91's, what's the one thing (or couple of things!) to look out for in these things that might need particular attention? Like, maybe the transmission? Overheating? Drivetrain?

The Jeep I have in my hands now has 149,000 miles on it. Damn thing still runs strong though! Just not sure if those miles are due to being towed around behind an RV or something. Just want to make sure I don't inadvertently run it too rugged if these year models have a particular glitch that I'm not aware of.

Thanks folks!

Taz,

Thanks man. She is rather attractive isn't she? If only I got a dime for everytime I heard that, when and not when I'm with her, I'd be rich!
