New from Buffalo

Just found the forum. I'll read before I ask. I'm picking up a 04 Wrangler 2.4 with 12,500 miles. I'll be interested in improving the MPG and keeping it in good shape. I've always been a backpacker, but the roads to trailheads are generally not that bad. This vehicle is more for the snowy day.

IDK. I don't get the vehicle until later this week. I know he upsized the tires. Don't know if those are original.

So is there a sticky thread that lists available mods for this particular TJ? There seem to be a few intakes and cat-backs. Most of the mods are for the 4.0 engine, so I'm running down a bunch of dead ends.

How does this particular engine respond to more air?

Welcome!

Welcome to the best Jeep Wrangler Forum on the planet! Glad to have you along for the ride. I currently have an '04 Unlimited 4.0L engine but I can tell you what I did for it and my former 4 cylinder '01 to increase the gas mileage. Check out Rusty's Off Road website. They're located in AL. The have a very inexpensive modification that removes much of your air intake and replaces it with an open filter assembly. It runs about $100 for everything. Bottom line was I increased my MPG on the 2.4L by 3-5 MPG and 2-3 on the '04 4.0L. It's a simple mod that will take you about 30 minutes to do. The increase in torque is very noticeable. Hope this helps! Again, welcome!

^thanks for that. Not so much out there for the 2.4 (SRT4 engine?). Most exhausts etc. are for the 4.0 and 2.5.
