Been an avid Wrangler fan since the time I was 14 but could never afford one until now. After being out of college for over a year and working a sales job the time has come to afford a new Wrangler but I need advice.
I'm going to buy an 07' Unlimited (White) with a manual shift as soon as one becomes available in my area. I want to buy an X and build it from there. I've already got the rims picked out but am unsure of on the wheels and don't know much about lift kits. After I purchase the jeep I will have right around $5000 to work with on upgrading the jeep. I plan on having 35" tires, KMC Monster XD Series rims, and a 4-5" lift. I don't plan on offroading the jeep outside of riding through a few farm fields when I go fishing/mushroom hunting. So I'm much more concerned with the jeep riding well than offroad preformance.
So for the more experienced Jeep builders and owners I ask these questions.
1. I really like the Toyo M/T tires but have read that they are expensive and horrible in the snow. Living in Norhern Indiana I can't have a jeep that won't preform in the snow. Furthermore with 35" tires lifted up it'd be embarassing to not handle the snow. What would be your reccomendation on tires that look good, are cost efficient, ride well (minimal noise), and preform in the snow? Possibly a good looking set of AT's?
2. What would be your reccomendation for a lift? With the price I've given for rims, tires, and lift do you have any advice? Again I'm looking for ride quality as opposed to offroad performance.
3. Does anyone know any good 4x4 places in the Northern Indiana area? I have friends that can do the job but not sure I trust them to put the lift kit on and have it ride smoothly.
All advice and recommendations would be welcome! I'll leave you guys with a picture of what I'd like my jeep to look like after its done minus the color (white instead of read).
